The zooming in shot has 2 plates, one’s a close up of the hand and another a mid shot of the subject. Zooming done in After Effects with a little rotoscoping and motion blur, the fast zoom looks real.

All the plates were shot separately and are static shots, then they were matched and synced together using Final Cut Pro (FCP). The panning movement was generated by After Effects.
